Chiropractic degree

The practice of Chiropractic medicine is a relatively new natural, preventative and non-invasive form of health care that is based on the principle that the body has the ability
heal and maintain itself without the use of pharmaceutical drugs or invasive surgery. A chiropractic degree is a safe, effective and cost efficient health care alternative. The complementary nature of a chiropractic degree shows the changing attitudes in the general health profession towards alternative and complementary medicinal practices.

The chiropractic degree allows the practicioner to offer a complete body healthcare system. It is not just a pain management process. The responsibilities of the doctor of chiropractic as a primary care clinician include health assessment, diagnosis, wellness and the chiropractic management and administration of a patient’s health care requirements. Often a doctor of chiropractic will work with other health care providers.

The chiropractic degree provides students with sound academic and clinical experience which will usually include featuring a focus on chiropractic technique and the philosophy of chiropractic. In universities and colleges offering chiropractic degrees the coursess and education is geared toward the needs of a practicing chiropractor including on the job training, hands-on training and finishing with a solid year or 18 months of clinical outpatient experience.

The chiropractic degree curriculum is generally designed to qualify chiropractic graduates for the graduates chosen countries licencing regulations and will include examinations. Some countries will require international or domestic students to undertake additional degrees and/or special
courses in a postgraduate environment to qualify for the for final chiropractic examination.

Generally the prerequisites for admission to become a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine will include:

Compliance with the national or local policies, standards and guidelines of the countries association of Chiropractic Education.
Completion of the international students semester hours including undergraduate work with specified course work and work experience.
